REASONS FOR REMOVAL 

-Saline and silicone breast implants are not lifetime devices, and some women elect to have them removed for a variety of reasons. These reasons can include pain, hardening, distortion of appearance, or simply no longer desire to have implants.

GENERAL PROCEDURE

-The procedure is quick and simple, and can involve removal of the implant alone, or in addition to removal of the capsule that has formed around the implant as a natural part of the healing process. Some patients may desire a lift, or mastopexy, to remove excess skin which may occur as a result of the volume loss that is associated with implant removal, this can be performed at the same time as implant removal. The operation is typically done on an outpatient basis with minimal pain and a short recovery time.
